Over the past few years, the fake meat phenomenon has gone from being a highly speculative curiosity to an in-demand food item, available not just in grocery stores but also dished out over the counters of popular fast-food chains across the country. From burgers and sandwiches to tacos and pizzas, a wide range of meatless alternatives is available to customers today, many of whom are opting for them for health, environmental or ethical reasons. • 39% of meat-eaters and 15% of vegans/vegetarians have tried the fake meat menu at popular fast-food chains
• 60% among them would continue eating fake meat at fast-food chains, mainly for health reasons
• 41% of Americans have tried the fake meat menu at Burger King, followed by Wendy’s, Subway, and Starbucks (10% each)
