The singer-songwriter, Caloncho originally from Cuidad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico, presents his fourth album, «Buen Pez» in which he searches to go beyond music to give his fans a meeting point where the destructive and novice of the modern world has transformed into a collective act of good spirit and energy.
“‘Buen Pez», Caloncho says, “means good vibes/buen pex/buen rollo. It’s a spirit that has lived throughout the creation of this album: I wanted to build a parallel narrative to the songs alongside my team and focus on the idea of growth, getting to know each other better and transforming ourselves into people that leave something positive behind wherever we go.”
The new album features endless collaborations, given its own nature of collective effusiveness. «I worked in complete freedom with friends, artists, musicians and producers that I love and admire, with who I discovered a super diverse world where sounds, genres and themes coexist magically and manage to connect in the same direction,» says the artist.
Luckily, every single one of the nine tracks included in “Buen Pez” possess the quality to function as a conceptual unit, at the same time each track has a unique spirit according to the featuring artists or the aesthetic or sound approaches realized by Caloncho.
Along with the new album, «Buen Pez», Caloncho released his new single, «Separarnos» featuring Tejano artist, Bobby Pulido who imprints part of his romantic tex mex to the song, which generates a one of a kind fusion and style. If you ever onced wondered what Caloncho would sound like making cumbias north of the border, this track will not only satisfy, it will be one of your favorites. The song is accompanied by a clever and witty, 70s inspired video for the norteño cumbia track
Previous to the album being released the artist released songs like, “Naranjita Sí, Carnal” and “Somos Instantes”. The album also includes standout songs like “Viaje Redondo”, “Turistas”, “Como Éramos Antes” y “Luciérnagas”, that feature artists like Little Jesus, Melissa Robles, Charles Ans and Carlos Colosio.
Caloncho also created a website called “La Hermana República del Buen Pez” where the ideals behind the album are promoted: being ambassadors of good will and generate community through music, like how Caloncho himself mentioned, “it’s a powerful entity, beautiful with the capacity to carry messages to those who listen. We want to take advantage possibilities to create good messages for the public, who at the end of the day, are the most important part of the process.” http://universalmusicmagazine.com.mx/promos/caloncho-buen-pez/
