K-pop
In a historic first for the franchise, MTV PUSH names leading K-pop act SEVENTEEN as its first K-pop group to be featured as the Global PUSH Artist, for the month of December. The international phenomenon is capping off a strong showing in 2021 with the release of their latest album “Attacca” dominating the charts. SEVENTEEN opens up in a candid sit-down interview with MTV about how exactly they’re able to gain musical inspiration from the world around them, how they’ve been handling their growing success over the past year, how much their fans have helped them grow, the meaning behind their hit lead single “Rock With You” and much more. The supergroup also gives fans exclusive, electric performances of their hit singles “Crush” and “Rock With You.”
On gaining inspiration from the world around them:
- S. Coups: “We do gain inspiration from our daily lives, but what’s most important is to always keep an open mind and heart, be receptive to these everyday conversations and the possibility that this may lead to something bigger.”
On the group’s growing success over the past year:
- Seungkwan: “We are very thankful that you say we have seen so much success already, but if we’re able to reach more people who may not know us through this MTV PUSH campaign, that would be even more amazing. It feels incredible to wrap up our 2021 with MTV PUSH.”
On becoming the first K-pop group featured on MTV PUSH:
- Joshua: “We are also very proud that our music and performances are reaching out to so many people in the world. We’re so happy because of that and so thankful, and I just feel like once we get on that stage we’re gonna reminisce all the times we had like, difficulties and struggles – with our music – but we grew up so much because of our CARATs. So we’re really, really thankful for that.”
On the meaning behind their hit song “Rock With You”:
- S. Coups: “Through the lyrics we tried our best to talk about and convey the power of love. And we wanted to send a message to the listeners that SEVENTEEN will be next to them as a source of strength.”
- Hoshi: “It also embodies SEVENTEEN’s deep love and affection for our CARATs (our fans) and the message that we all are being very much loved by someone.”
