DURHAM, NC —
TikTok influencer ordered to pay $1.75 million Brenay Kennard will return to court next week, facing criminal cyberstalking charges and a civil bond hearing in Durham County.
Brenay Kennard, the TikTok influencer who was ordered to pay $1.75 million to NC mother of two Akira Montague after initiating a torrid affair with Montague’s then husband and flaunting the affair to her social media audience, will be back in court twice next week including a hearing on Tuesday where she faces criminal cyberstalking charges arising from the affair.
Kennard was arrested on September 9, 2024 and charged with cyberstalking after Montague reported that Kennard continued to harass and bully her on social media and in person despite a no-contact order issued to prevent her from doing so. According to the Alienation of Affection lawsuit, Kennard’s cyberstalking and harassment occurred both during and following the affair, was profoundly humiliating, and resulted in death threats against both Montague and her children.
Kennard’s criminal hearing is scheduled to begin at 8:45 AM Tuesday, March 3, in Courtroom 4D of the Durham County Courthouse (510 South Dillard St. Durham, NC). Those wishing to cover the hearing should contact the office of the Durham County Clerk of Court. Please note the court is open to the public.
Before she faces those charges, however, Kennard has a hearing on Monday, March 2, for a judge to set the judicial bond on the $1.75 million awarded in November as Kennard continues to appeal that judgement. The judicial bonds like this are typically set to ensure compliance with court orders and/or judgements and protect against financial losses during the appeals process. Montague is represented by Attorney Robonetta B. Jones.
That hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 Monday, March 2, on the 7th floor of the Durham County Courthouse (510 South Dillard St. Durham, NC). Those wishing to cover the hearing should contact the office of the Durham County Clerk of Court. Please note the court is open to the public.
